Embracing nature

Hello stunners,

Sorry for my massive absence! The first week I got to Porto I was decorating and then once I'd finished I fell ill and was in bed for over a week! But now the bad times are over and I'm off on holiday tomorrow!

This summer, like the last two summers before, I will be in Portugal, Portugal is very different to the UK in many ways but the main way is the weather. The main problem that I have is the humidity and because of this keeping my hair straight, smooth and frizz free is next to impossible! Last summer I tried my best to keep my locks straight but due to the sun, sand and sea I had to wash my hair a lot and therefore straightening it was just killing it. I have naturally very curly hair but I am one of those girls who straightens her hair so much that people think that it's been relaxed! Unfortunately all that straightening has taken its toll and I have serious heat damage! Consequently I have made the decision to wear my natural curls until further notice. So far I've been heat free for a month (woo go me) but I have to tell you that it has been such a challenge! I am so bored of wearing my hair in its natural state! I just want to grab my straighteners and have long luscious straight hair!

At the moment I'm not using any special products on my hair, I've just been using a Suplhate-free shampoo from the body shop whenever I go to the beach or pool but any other week I co-wash with an Aussie conditioner. I have also been using Shea Moisture Curl enhancing smoothie which smells delicious and really helps to define my curls. When I get back from my holiday I a going to buy some Aubrey Organics and Shea Organics products to really optimise my curls!

Are any of you in the same position? Do you have any suggestions of products I should be using?

Lots of love
